Region Västranorrland has purchased two sculptures from my series on racial biology.
These sculptures are based on photographs from the archives of the State Institute for Racial Biology in Uppsala. The institute operated between 1921 and 1958 and conducted what is now heavily criticized research in so-called racial biology. People were photographed, measured from head to toe, their hair and eye colors described, and they were then categorized into different “races.”
The explicit political aim was to divide Sweden’s population into separate groups that preferably should not mix or have children together. The “Swedish race” was to be protected from “inferior genes” from other, undesirable groups. As a consequence of this ideology, thousands of people in Sweden were forcibly sterilized well into the late 1960s.
In my work, I have used a number of these photographs—but with the intention of de-categorizing the individuals by creating sculptures that instead highlight each person’s uniqueness and dignity.

I'm working on a photography project in the old laboratry of Maltesholm Cement Aktiebolag, in the small town of Östra Sönnarslöv. The project is called "four rooms". A place where time has stood still, with marvellous light and beautiful colors.

My sculpture of Marinus van der Lubbe is now on display in the permanent exhibition of Museum de Lakenhal in Leiden, the Netherlands.
This year I will publish a photo book "husens poesi" with pictures of old, used and worn out wallpapers. It will be published in cooperation with Caroline de Lint, graphic design and Linda Fagerström, text. Kalejdoskop publishers.
